Don Gates was raised in Central Florida and has spent the past 30+ years fishing the east coast of Florida and off Texas in the Gulf of Mexico. Don fishes with a group of friends that have become the top tagging team for the DRP.  His team has marked and released dolphinfish every year since the DRP began in 2002. To date, they have released an astounding 5,827 fish. Don is retired and resides in the Florida Keys.  Don and his team feel that this research is important to the long-term sustainability of recreational fishing.  Don served as a founding board member of the Beyond Our Shores Foundation and served as a board member for 7 years.
